What data is collected, and why
Contact form. The form on the Contact page opens your own email application and sends your message (name, professional email, organisation, topic and message) directly to alain.popovici@gmail.com. This site does not operate a server-side database — nothing you type into that form is stored by this website; it only ever exists in your and my email accounts.
Basic technical logs. Like virtually every website, the hosting provider automatically records standard technical information on each visit (IP address, browser type, pages requested, date and time) for security and operational purposes. This is not used to identify individual visitors.
Google Fonts. This site loads typefaces from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com). Loading a font from Google's servers may transmit your IP address to Google as a normal part of that request. This happens on every page load and is independent of the analytics consent described below.
Analytics — only with your consent. If you accept the cookie banner shown on your first visit, Google Analytics (GA4) is loaded to measure aggregate, anonymised visit statistics: pages viewed, approximate country/region, device type. IP addresses are anonymised before storage. Nothing from Google Analytics loads or runs until you actively accept it, and you can withdraw your consent at any time using the "Cookie preferences" link in the footer of every page. Legal basis for processing
Analytics cookies are set only on the basis of your consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)). Responding to messages you send through the contact form relies on legitimate interest and, where applicable, pre-contractual steps taken at your request (Art. 6(1)(b)/(f)). Basic security logging by the hosting provider relies on legitimate interest in keeping the site secure and operational (Art. 6(1)(f)).
Who receives your data
Google (Google Ireland Limited / Google LLC) acts as a data processor for Google Fonts and, where consented, Google Analytics. No data collected through this site is sold, rented, or shared with any other third party, and there is no advertising or retargeting on this site.
International transfers
Google's infrastructure may process data outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Where this occurs, it is covered by recognised safeguards such as the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
How long data is kept
Contact-form content is not retained by this site at all — it goes directly to email, where normal mailbox retention applies. Google Analytics data (when you've consented) is retained according to Google Analytics' default settings, currently 14 months, adjustable in the underlying GA4 property.
Your rights under the GDPR
You have the right to access, rectify, erase, or restrict the processing of your personal data, to object to processing, to request data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before that withdrawal. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority — in France, the CNIL (Commission Nationale de l'Informatique et des Libertés), or the data protection authority in your own EU country of residence.
Children's privacy
This site is a professional advisory site and is not directed at children. It does not knowingly collect personal data from minors.
